Dare 2 Be

Dare to be...® is an exciting brand new initiative from North East Dance designed for and aimed at young people. The programme covers eighteen subjects or themes which affect young people in society today. The course focuses on hard hitting and gritty subject matter, ensuring that we support and enhance the learning process through education, physical and creative activity. Dance is a very good engagement tool and our primary aims are to engage with, support, raise awareness and nurture talent in young people to help them to reach their full potential.

We want to enable young people to take control through this course of workshops using our knowledge and inspire them to take control of their lifestyle choices in an informed way. Many young people are under enormous pressure to conform to peer groups or media influence, this can cause young people to do things they would not normally do such as promote hatred, take drugs, smoke, drink alcohol, participate in youth disorder or crime. We should all be challenging and addressing negative concepts that some young people have of themselves and others and challenging pre-conceived ideas of what is acceptable or unacceptable.
